The maps had real personality: the cabin in the woods ( Nightfall ), the Lovecraftian docks ( Mayday ), and the haunted prison ( Awakening ).

It was the first "next-gen" Call of Duty , tasked with showcasing the power of new hardware while simultaneously dragging a community weary of modern military shooters into an unfamiliar future.
