This isn't a scanner; it’s a flatbed tractor. The 5590 has a 50-page Automatic Document Feeder (ADF) that sounds like a diesel engine warming up, but it never jams . I fed it a stack of receipts from 1998—wrinkled, stapled, and slightly coffee-stained—and it chewed through them like a champ. The optical resolution (2400 dpi) is overkill for most people, but if you are scanning negatives or detailed photographs, this old beast blows modern $100 consumer scanners out of the water. hp scanjet 5590 full setup
