They tiptoed down the spiral staircase, past the sleeping palace guards (who were drooling into their helmets). The Golden Spoon Vault was a tiny door behind the portrait of Great-Aunt Mabel, who had a mustache and a very un-princess-like laugh. On the door was a riddle:

Bubbles poured over the sides like a fluffy rainbow avalanche. They floated up to the ceiling, carrying spoons, napkins, and one very startled mouse. The kitchen filled with the most glorious, fizzy, laughing smell—like birthday cake and thunder storms and hugs.
