Thomas and Minho map the Maze’s movement, discovering the walls form coordinates leading to a hidden door. Gally tries to stop them, revealing he believes the Maze is a punishment they deserve. The Grievers breach the Glade, killing many. Thomas, Minho, Teresa, Newt, Chuck, and a few others race into the Maze at night. They find a sealed chamber in the Griever lair. Inside: a computer terminal. Teresa types a code from her memory, opening a passage to an underground lab. Scientists’ video logs reveal WICKED (World In Catastrophe: Killzone Experiment Department) created the Maze as a test to find brain patterns resistant to a virus that destroyed civilization. The Gladers are immune. As they escape into a desert, Gally appears – controlled by a Griever sting – and throws a knife. Chuck jumps in front, saving Thomas but dying. Thomas kills Gally. They stumble outside to find a devastated world – and men in hazmat suits waiting.

Thomas breaks Glader law by entering the Maze to save Minho and Alby, who are trapped overnight. He helps Minho drag Alby back, but Alby is stung by a Griever and falls into a coma. Thomas’s bravery and curiosity make him a hero to some (Newt, Chuck) and a threat to others (Gally). Thomas realizes the Maze’s walls move in patterns – it’s a code. He convinces Minho they can solve it. Meanwhile, a girl (Teresa) arrives in the Box – the first ever female – clutching a note: “She’s the last one ever.” She whispers in her sleep: “WICKED is good.” maze runner whole movie
