Ravi remembered a chapter from his EVS book: "Roots absorb water and minerals from the soil." He knelt down and gently pulled away a broken brick. The soil underneath was dry and hard—almost like rock.

In the small village of Puranagar, nine-year-old Ravi loved two things more than anything else: his NCERT science textbook and the giant neem tree behind the abandoned railway station. ncert book

"We need to save this tree," Ravi said. "It's been here longer than our grandparents. It gives us shade, medicine, and clean air." Ravi remembered a chapter from his EVS book:

One afternoon, Ravi sat under the same tree, now lush and full. He opened his textbook to a new chapter: "From Waste to Wonder." He smiled, thinking of how a lesson from a book had saved a living thing. "We need to save this tree," Ravi said

"Who can tell me how trees help the soil?" she asked.

One evening, he noticed something strange. The leaves of the neem tree were turning yellow, and the branches seemed to droop. His friend Fatima, who loved drawing flowers in her notebook, pointed at the trunk. "Look, Ravi. Someone has piled bricks and rubbish around the roots."

Hands shot up. "They prevent erosion!" "They hold water!" "They give us oxygen!"
