When ADOR (All Doors One Room) and CEO Min Hee-jin unveiled NewJeans in July 2022, they didn’t just introduce a new girl group—they challenged the very structure of the K-pop physical album market. The group’s self-titled debut EP, New Jeans , arrived not as a standard jewel case or bulky photobook, but as a reimagined, customizable, and deeply nostalgic physical object. Central to this experience was the now-iconic “NewJeans zip” —a transparent PVC binder that allowed fans (soon to be named Bunnies) to build their own album. The Concept: Y2K Nostalgia Meets DIY Culture From the outset, NewJeans’ aesthetic was drenched in early 2000s references—low-rise jeans, chunky sneakers, digital camcorders, and the raw, unpolished feel of teen coming-of-age films. The physical album extended this ethos into a tangible format. Instead of a sealed, monolithic package, the New Jeans EP was designed as a collectible binder system , reminiscent of CD wallets, sticker albums, and trapper keepers from the turn of the millennium.

Today, a sealed first-press “NewJeans zip” (either Blue or Pink version) sells for 2–3 times its original retail price on secondary markets. Unsealed versions with rare photocards or all five member cover inserts command even higher prices. For fans, owning the zip isn’t just about having the music—it’s about holding a piece of K-pop history that redefined what an album could be: not a product, but a personal archive. In summary, the “NewJeans 1st EP ‘New Jeans’ zip” is more than an album. It’s a binder, a time capsule of Y2K teen spirit, a customizable shrine to five artists, and a testament to how thoughtful physical design can turn a debut into a cultural reset.
