Existing literature on Indonesian culture and Islamic values highlights the importance of modesty and privacy in everyday life. The hijab is seen as a symbol of modesty and piety, and women who wear it are expected to uphold certain standards of behavior and dress. However, the rise of social media and digital entertainment has created new challenges for Indonesian women, particularly those who wear the hijab. Research has shown that women who wear the hijab are often objectified and fetishized in online spaces, with their bodies and clothing being scrutinized and sexualized.
The phenomenon of "Ngintip Cewek Jilbab Bj Di Kebun" (peeking at a hijab girl in the garden) is a case in point. This phenomenon, which involves the objectification and fetishization of a hijab-wearing woman in a garden setting, highlights the complex issues surrounding modesty and privacy in Indonesian culture. Through a critical analysis of this phenomenon, this paper argues that the objectification of women, particularly those who wear the hijab, is a reflection of deeper cultural and social issues in Indonesia.
